Fire Cord Waterproof Tinder Micro 3-pack

$10.00

I designed Fire Cord as way of storing a large quantity of waterproof tinder in a compact package. The Micro is small enough to attach to a firesteel or keep in a survival tin, ensuring that you will always have a way to produce a fire in an emergency.

Fire Cord Micro Specs:

  • Completely Waterproof even after multiple hours submerged
  • Attaches easily to a Firesteel or Ranger Bic
  • Enough tinder to light up to 60 fires
  • Ignites with just a spark
  • 1 7/8" x 1/2"
  • 8 grams
Fire Cord Micro contains 2' of the same paraffin wax saturated 5-stand Jute used in the original Fire Cord, just in a much handier package. I wanted a container small enough that I could attach to a Firesteel, so that I would always have a source of readily ignitable tinder. It's a similar theory to the classic Magnesium block firestarter, except it is much easier to use.
Here's the Micro attached to my GobSpark Armageddon, which is far and away the best Firesteel I've ever used. When combined with the Micro FC, it's very simple to start a fire, and simple is good in my opinion.

The Micro is also the perfect size for storing in an Survival Tin / Fire Kit.
One of the things that sets Fire Cord apart is that it's adjustable to your firestarting needs. If you're in a dry area like Southern California, all you need is a single 2" stand of Fire Cord. Each 2" strand will burn for 15 seconds, with the same amount of flame found in a kitchen match, and each Micro Spool produces 60 strands.
For starting a fire in moderate conditions, a 2" section of Fire Cord is sufficient. Each 2" section burns for 2 minutes, and each Micro spool provides 12 pieces.
However, in a situation where you desperately need to light a fire in severe conditions, the entire spool can be ignited at once, providing a 15 minute burn time.
All you need to do is fluff up the end of the cord, and hit it with a spark:

Once ignited, the cord will burn towards the spool like a fuse:

The spool will burn hot for 15 minutes, which should be enough to light a fire in all but the worst conditions.

If you're looking for a convenient way to keep waterproof tinder close at hand, then I think you will really like Fire Cord Micro. It's easy to light, waterproof, and if you attach it to your firesteel, you'll always have a way to light a fire.

Fire Cord Micro is made with pride in the USA, and comes as a pack of 3.
